Summary Assist in managing the Alaska Railroad Janitorial Services Contract

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Human Resource Functions
Sets expectations of each team position, to include uniforms, grooming standards, safety policies and area responsibilities.
Upholds service standards.
Interfaces with ARR Guest Services Management Team.
Ensures all HR paperwork is completed and filed with HR department.
Training of crew leaders and crew members.
 
Financial Resource Functions:
Ensures that employee payroll information is entered correctly and on time.
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel and Outlook
Rnsures project stays within established budgetary guidelines.
 
HSEQ Functions
Ensures all ESS safety policies and standards are met
Works with Janitorial Manager to insure all necessary forms are filled out and filed
Ensures all ARR safety policies and procedures are met
Works with ESS HSE Manage on all accident reporting and follow up.
Maintain a zero recordable incident rate

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Forklift Training, First Aid/CPR
 
Education and/or Experience                                            
 5 years supervisory experience, or similar experience of an equal nature.
 
Language Skills                                           
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports/orders. Ability to speak effectively with customers.
 
Mathematical Skills                                                
Ability to add, subtract and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts.
 
Computer Skills
Ability to create new or work within an existing file in: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
 
Other Qualifications                                                
On occasion ride railcars which necessitate 16 hours continuous work.  
Change shifts as required to ensure coverage. 
Ability to stay in Fairbanks for up to two weeks to cover lead responsibilities during summer season. During off-season periods may be required to oversee other ESS projects.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heat, motion, cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.  Associates must be well aware of work environment surroundings due to nightly maintenance activities of AKRR personnel.   Associates will frequently enter and exit rail coaches by the use of vestibule stairs.  Exterior operations require the use of water delivered via a high-pressure hose, and an aerial lift. Additional PPE and certifications are required for these duties.
