Reports To: Lead Coach Maintenance Technician, Project Manager                           

SUMMARY

Nightly cleaning of Alaska Railroad passenger coaches. Duties will change on a nightly basis due to staffing levels or operational concerns
 
Essential Duties ans responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Completion of nightly duties as assigned to meet or exceed AKRR, ESS standards.
  • Perform duties according to ESS, AKRR Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ability to fulfill a complete work week schedule as assigned

 
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities, self-motivation and accountability are required.
 
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: A high school education, or six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
 
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
 
Reasoning Abilities: to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.  Associates must be well aware of work environment surroundings due to nightly maintenance activities of AKRR personnel.   Associates will frequently enter and exit rail coaches by the use of vestibule stairs.  Exterior operations require the use of water delivered via a high-pressure hose, and an aerial lift. Additional PPE and certifications are required for these duties.
